Aesthetics, fish, recreation, urban values, water, wilderness, wildlife, timber products, forest genetic resources, and other forest resource values are all managed. Conservation, economics, or a combination of the two can be used to guide management. Timber extraction, planting and replanting of diverse species, cutting roads and trails through forests, and fire prevention are all techniques used.
