Biotechnology and Molecular Biology

About The Book

To encourage a natural flow of information and to provide uncomplicated access to issues by giving the necessary context and theoretical support, this book is arranged into 11 chapters. Molecular biology is a concept that is introduced in Chapter 1. Additionally, it discusses the human genome project and the concept of cells. In Chapter 2, the fundamentals of biotechnology are covered. It is the regulated application of biological agents, such as cellular elements or microbes. The biotechnological applications in medicine are discussed in this chapter. Basic Molecular Biology, Chapter 3 Techniques like Restriction Mapping of DNA Fragments, Isolation and Separation of Nucleic Acids, and Enzymes Used in Molecular Biology. The topics of molecular cloning and protein expression are covered in Chapter 4. Highlights from Chapter 5 relate to Molecular Microbial Diagnostics. The topics of genes and genomes are covered in Chapter 6. All branches of fundamental biology, biotechnology, and medicine are impacted by genomics and genetics, which frequently has obvious and immediate benefits like the identification of genetic diseases. The biotechnology and molecular biology of yeast are discussed in Chapter 7. The mechanics of DNA replication, recombination, and translocation are described in Chapter 8. Additionally, it introduces several of the proteins—including DNA polymerases—involved in replication as well as the fundamental mechanisms of DNA replication and repair. Immunochemical methods, which are important for the immune system, are introduced in Chapter 9. Biosensor usage is discussed in Chapter 10. The usage of biotechnology and biofuel are also covered in the final chapter. The book's association is designed to promote fruitful learning interactions. The structure of the book is designed to meet the requirements of readers in general as well as students, researchers, and managerial organisations. This book is intended to aid readers in grasping the fundamental ideas of molecular biology and biotechnology.

Richard Miller is a former professor of biological sciences. Over the course of more than seven years, he has accumulated a large and diverse body of teaching and research experience. He worked tirelessly to update the biology courses offered at BITS after receiving his molecular biology expertise at the Institute of Fundamental Research. As a well-known biologist who is credited with many educational innovations, he has taught and oversaw doctoral research in molecular biology, enzyme biotechnology, and physiology. He has also successfully completed several research projects funded by different agencies. He has written numerous books in the disciplines of bioinformatics, biochemistry, immunology, biology, physiology, and biotechnology. He is a prolific writer. Luis Obispo is currently an emeritus professor. Nearly every significant biotechnology committee, including the chair of the Biological and Biotechnology Research Council, he has served on. He provides consulting services to numerous industrial businesses. He co-founded the Section on Biological Engineering Science, for which he serves as temporary head, and is an active member of the Federation of Biotechnology. This thorough textbook is required reading for all applied microbiology and biotechnology students, as well as for biotechnology industry researchers.
