Changes in Society and the Global Environment

About The Book

In both the social and economic structures, major shifts have been taking place over the course of the past two decades. The trend of globalisation has resulted in expanded opportunities for certain people, but it has also resulted in growing social dislocations and disenfranchisement for the vast majority of people. The traditional means of subsistence have come into conflict with the rising commercial production of non-traditional goods geared toward export as a result of globalisation. The boundary between "work" and "leisure" has become much clearer as a result of globalisation, which has also played a significant role in establishing the parameters of the activities that constitute leisure. This book will be of tremendous use to students of the social sciences and the humanities as it presents a number of empirical and historical analyses of leisure activities from a variety of different civilizations. Students, social scientists, and policymakers who are interested in understanding social change in the context of this irreversible process of globalisation will find this article to be helpful.
