Microbiology for Environment

Tim Stefan is currently an associate professor. In addition to serving as associate professor he is also Soil and Aquatic Microbiology Laboratory's director. He is an expert in the development and application of molecular technologies to speed up the identification and removal of environmental contaminants. This involves the discovery and characterisation of microbial populations and communities that contribute to applied remediation procedures including the bioremediation of organic and metal pollutants, as well as the identification of microbial pathogens from animal, human, and natural sources. He instructs students at the undergraduate and graduate levels in environmental soil science and environmental microbiology. He has authored or co-authored over 132 peer-reviewed academic papers, 32 book chapters, and 15 textbooks
